AAA Meet:
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Kane Area High School
(Rain date – May 20, 2010 (same time schedule will be used)
AA Meet:
Friday, May 21, 2010 at Brookville Area High School
(Rain date – May 21, 2010; after consideration of weather/potential weather conditions is completed, the best starting time to begin the meet will be announced)
Please make your athletes are aware of the rain date and starting time will be made considering weather conditions.

On Line Enteries:
All entries for the District 9 meet must be made through MileSplit. The method to enter your athletes has been e-mailed to athletic directors and head coaches. Also, instructions have been attached with this memo.
National federation and PIAA rules and regulations govern the district meets.
An athlete may not compete in more than four events. A team may not enter more than three athletes per individual event and one relay team per event.
The District 9 Meet is a state qualifying meet. Please do not enter an athlete who should not participate in a district championship meet..
THE LAST DAY AND TIME TO ENTER OR CHANGE YOUR ENTRIES THROUGH DIRECT ATHLETIC IS SATURDAY, MAY 15, 2010 AT 7:00 PM.
AAA MEET:
Each school is permitted to enter three athletes per individual events and one relay team per relay events.
THIS IS A CHANGE FROM PAST YEARS
You may register an athlete in more than four individual events and three relay events on the MileSplit website. At the coaches meeting you must declare the individual events your athlete will compete. After this meeting, you can not change your individual entries.
AA MEET:
All athletes and relay teams that meet the District 9 qualifying standards will be entered in the meet. If you have an athlete or relay team that is close to meeting the qualifying standards, you may enter the athlete or relay team in MileSplit. If there is an open lane or position in an event, your athletes or relay teams will be seeded. No additional heats or flights will be added for “provisional athletes.”

PERFORMANCE LIST:
A performance list will be e-mailed to athletic director and head coaches on Sunday night or Monday morning prior to the meet. If your athlete is not on this list he or she has not been entered in the meet, call or e-mail as soon as possible. AA coaches this list will provide the names of any “provisional” athletes or relay teams that are allowed to participate in the district meet.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Brookville Area H. S. and Kane Area H. S. have all weather tracks. Either flat or 3/16-inch spikes or 1/8-inch (showing) may be used.
2. All coaches and competitors must stay out of the infield. Competitors must warm-up off the track. Only those competitors who are in an announced event will be allowed in the track or field areas. Once a competitor has been eliminated or their event is completed, he/she must leave the area. No coaches are allowed inside the fence except the one coach per school (with an athlete participating) is permitted in the pole vault coaching box area.
3. Reservations for dorm room at Shippensburg University will be made though information in your packet or information found on the PIAA website.
4. Each school is responsible for the correctness of their entries. Please print out a roster and entry list from MileSplit. All submitted times and distances must be proven if challenged by another school. Bring your score sheets signed by the PIAA official with you. Failure to comply may result in the elimination of your athlete from an event.
5. Throwing implements and vaulters will be weighed at the clerking area at the “AA” meet and in the garage area at the “AAA” meet.
6. Coaches meeting will be held in the Brookville Field House and in the Kane Area High School’s art room.
7. Starting blocks will be provided by Brookville and Kane Area High Schools. A school may use their own blocks.
8. A competitor officially becomes a participant when the contestant or a relay team of which they are a member reports to the clerk of course or the judge of a field event in which they have been entered. AT SOME MEETS THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE UNIFORM RULE. PLEASE REMIND YOUR ATHLETES THE RULE WILL BE ENFORCED.
9. No marks may be made on the runways; tape may be used for relays.
10. Banners, signs, portable stereos, whistles, and noise makers are prohibited. Small portable listening devices with earphones and stationary banners and signs, which are sportsmanlike in their messages, are permitted. Portable listening devices (with or without earphones) are prohibited in the infield area and field event areas. CELL PHONES are prohibited in the infield area and field event areas
11. No tents are permitted on the infield. At Kane Area High School tents are not permitted on the visitor’s side of the stadium. At Brookville Area High School location of tents will be assigned.
12. Certified athletic trainer/trainers will be available. “AA” meet – near the clerking tent and finish line
“AAA” meet – near the starting area and in the garage area
13. Awards presentations will follow each event.
“AAA” – individual events (1st through 5th place)
“AAA” – relay events (1st through 3rd place)
“AA” - individual events (1st through 6th place)
“AA” - relay events (1st through 3rd place)
14. The James Manners Awards (the female and male athlete who scores the most points will receive this award) and the championship team plaques will be presented after the last event.
15. A refreshment stand will be open at each meet.
16. T-shirts and programs will be for sale.
17. A limited number of result copies will be available at the end of the meet. Results will be posted on the District 9 website, on the MileSplit site, and will be e-mailed to the head coaches and athletic directors.

20. Advancement:
a. Field events – one athlete greater than the number of points awarded (AAA - 6 and AA -7)
b. Track events – 2 heats – 1st and 2nd place in the heats and the top two times
3 heats – 1st place in the heats and the top three times
4 heats – 1st place in the heat and the top two times

All scratches of athletes qualifying for the PIAA Championship Meet must be made (on the PIAA scratch form) before leaving the meet.
All relay teams and alternates must be registered (on the PIAA relay form) before leaving the meet.
PARTICIPATION AND ENTRY LIMITATIONS:
A competitor may not compete in more than four events, including relays.
PENALTY; A competitor who participates in more events than allowed by rule shall forfeit all individual places and points and shall be disqualified from further competition in the meet. In a relay (s) event, the team’s relay (s) points and places(s) shall also be forfeited.
In district qualifying meets, no more than three contestants from a given school shall be allowed to enter an individual event. In a relay race, only one team per school may be entered.
