2010 DISTRICT IX BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

RE: 2010 District IX Baseball Championships
Information on this year’s baseball tournaments:
1. There are four classes.
2. District IX will qualify 2 teams into the state playoffs in Class A.
3. Schools should make all possible attempts not to schedule events that may possibly impact the play dates. Please make note of any commencement activities.
4. Admission fees will be charged for all games this year.
Teams and Classifications:
AAAA School: Dubois- Play in Game with District IX
AAA Schools: Punxsutawney, Bradford, Clearfield, St. Marys
AA Schools: Brookville, Moniteau, Karns City, Cranberry,
Redbank Valley, Kane,
A Schools: Curwensville, Brockway, Clarion-Limestone,
Elk County Catholic, Ridgway, Keystone, Cameron County, Smethport, Port Allegany
Clarion, Otto-Eldred, Northern Potter,
Johnsonburg, Dubois Central Catholic,
North Clarion, Oswayo Valley, West Forest,
Venango Catholic, Union, A-C Valley, Coudersport
The packet contains information and paperwork for entering the District IX Baseball Tournament. The tournament is open to any District IX P.I.A.A. school. Please check the application for the required submission date and time.

Communications All communications will be between the District IX Baseball Chairman and the principal or athletic director. No coaches should be involved in the communications.
Game Sites The higher seeded team will be the home team.
In classes AAA and AA, all games except the finals will be played on the home field of the higher seeded team.
In class A, the semi-finals and finals will be played on neutral fields.
School Personnel Principals or their designee should attempt to be present at all game sites.
Game Officials P.I.A.A. registered umpires will be assigned to each game.
Game Manager The District IX Baseball Chairman will assign a game manager for each game.
Pre-game Meeting Game managers will hold a meeting 15 minutes before the game with the officials, coaches, and administrators
Rules All current P.I.A.A. rules are in effect including the pitching rule.
Cancellation In consultation with the game manager, site manager, and the school administration from the participating schools, the decision on a postponement will be made. The game will be rescheduled for the following day. The decision will be made as soon as possible to prevent unnecessary travel.
Tournament Dates The tournament will start the week of May 24, 2010.
Game Balls The District IX Committee will provide game balls on a limited basis. Host schools need to be prepared to provide baseballs for each contest.
Awards Individual plaques, for the district champion and runner up, will be presented at the Championship game in each class.
Radio Fees Radio fees for District IX baseball games will be $50.00
Radio stations should contact home schools to make arrangements.
Seeding All seeding will be done by the power rating system with games through Wednesday, May 19 counting
2 points for playing an AAAA school
1.5 points for playing an AAA school
1 point for playing an AA school
.5 points for playing an A school and
5 Points are awarded for each victory
Any ties will be broken by:
1. Overall Record Using Winning Percentages
2. Head to Head Competition
3. Coin Flip
Admission Admission will be charged at all games.
Admission will be $5.00 and $2.00 Complimentary District IX Passes will be accepted
Host schools will be responsible for the admission charge process
